The subject of the thesis is the artistic commission of the Sanseverino family of the branch of the Counts of Marsico between the end of the 13th and 14th centuries. In the absence of historicalartistic studies dedicated to the noble family, the research focuses mainly on the funeral strategies adopted by the family, also looking at the testimonies of the artistic patrons and the initiatives related to the foundation of churches and monasteries. The aim is to reconsider the role of the burials in the debate on the funerary sculpture of the nobility and make a contribution to the in-depth analysis of the aristocratic patronage of the Fourteenth Century in Southern Italy.
