Abstract: | The essay deals with the mystical feminine writing of the xi-xvii centuries. These texts provide a space where gender history intersects with history of religion, social history of writing and history of literature. The sources that I have analysed are mainly private sources, namely diaries and letters, which allow us to observe the daily life of the religious closely, to scrutinize their actions, to follow the rhythm of their day. One of the most interesting aspects of these diaries and letters is the centrality of the body, which becomes one of the main means of contact between the soul and God. |
