The text I. 1.11.9 Sed et illud utriusque adoptionis commune est, quod et hi, qui generare non possunt, quales sunt spadones, adoptare possunt, castrati autem non possunt as reported in PT 1.11.9 of Theophilus lends itself to a dual interpretation on adoptio. A textual reading would seem to highlight a practice already consolidated in the classical age and, therefore, reached in the Justinian period; an exegetical, thorough and comprehensive reading, which includes the author's experience, his recognized legal culture, and his solid experience in teaching, reveals, instead, an element of innovation.it_IT
