Trascender fronteras en el Caribe: diversidad lingüística y creolización

Abstract

Este artículo explora la compleja intersección entre fronteras geográficas, históricas y lingüísticas en la región caribeña. El objetivo es destacar la cuestión de la diversidad lingüística como factor crucial en la construcción de una identidad compartida, al desafiar nociones tradicionales de unidad lingüística y nacional. En este contexto, la creolización emerge como fenómeno clave para entender la complejidad del área. Se toman como punto de referencia las teorías de Édouard Glissant sobre poética de la relación, para presentar el Caribe como un polisistema cultural trans-lingüístico en el que el multilingüismo puede actuar no solo como límite, sino, sobre todo, como un medio de expresión de la diversidad y la especificidad cultural

This article explores the complex intersection between geographical, historical and linguistic borders in the Caribbean region. The aim is to highlight the issue of linguistic diversity as a crucial factor in the construction of a shared identity, challenging traditional notions of linguistic and national unity. In this context, creolisation emerges as a key phenomenon for understanding the complexity of the area. Taking Édouard Glissant’s theories on the poetics of relation as a point of reference, the Caribbean is presented as a translinguistic cultural polysystem where multilingualism can act not only as a barrier but, above all, as a vehicle of expression of diversity and cultural specificity
