Massanova, Antonella
The Integrated Information System of the Benevento area is an innovative tool for the management,
monitoring and interoperability of different types of data, aimed at reconstruction of the cultural,
urban and rural resources of the Benevento area.
The implementation of the system responds to the needs of historical-archaeological scientific
research, protection, and therefore urban and territorial planning.
The research began with the analysis of the Benevento area and set as fundamental objectives the
definition of historical, cultural and environmental processes, as well as the understanding of the
settlement and population dynamics of the selected area. This one, representative both from the
point of view of historical-archaeological problems and of the formative processes of the entire
territorial compart, includes the northern portion of the Middle Valley of the Calore River, which is
configured as a privileged laboratory of analysis for the return of a precise identity historicalcultural,
based on the integrated components of the archaeological and monumental heritage. The
development of the system, based on the integration of the various components, has allowed the
preparation of an archaeological map, associated with different themes, which is able to propose
dynamic models related to the potential / risk of the Cultural Heritage, therefore, to give support and
incentives for development policies.
The implementation of the web-GIS called SISa (Sannio Information System), creates a common
area for the exchange of historical-humanistic and scientific-technological knowledge on the
systems of management of Cultural Heritage at European level, according to the elaboration of
scientific, tourist and production models in a broad sense, intended to give impetus to processes of
growth and integrated development of internal territories, often on the margins of large tourist
itineraries and undersized in relation to local economic and cultural sustainability models. [edited by Author]

Lerosier, Flore
politici o cultuali. .. [a cura dell'Autore]

De Angelis, Pina
This research analyses, with unpublished documents, the artistic career of Paolo de
Matteis, an interesting personality in the Neapolitan painting, active between the 17th and
18th centuries, in order to reconstruct and integrate the knowledge related to his Spanish
painting production, until today neglected by previous studies, but in fact it is well
developed for his whole career and continued without interruptions.
From the review of the sources, even considering new documentary and territorial
researches, it has been possible to show the strong relationship between the painter and
the viceroys, and to introduce new and important commissions, aiming to show his artistic
personality which was part of the cultural context and to increase the number of his works.
So, based on these considerations, it begins a season of strong commitments, in which
emerges the figure of Francisco de Benavides, IX Count of Santisteban del Puerto and his
wife, Francisca Josefa de Aragón.
It is to them that we owe not only a new historic scenario about the decoration of the
Neapolitan church of San Francesco Saverio – the present church of San Ferdinando –
but important works commissioned to the painter to increase their private collection and
religious foundations under their patronage, like the church of Virgen del Milagro in
Cocentaina.
The information included in the texts on Spanish artistic historiography and the
verification of many documents have made it possible to define new data regarding other
commissions assigned to the painter, related to both the royal court, as the Casa de Campo
pictorial series and the paintings de La Granja de San Ildefonso, and for private clients, as
3
the pictorial series for the Marquis de la Alameda of Vitoria and that of María Teresa
Vertiz in Huete. ... [edited by Author]

La scultura in legno barocca nel circuito del Mediterraneo
Merola, Giuseppina
The aim of the research was to examine the phenomenon of the circulation of wooden
sculpture in the Mediterranean from Naples - the center of this traffic - to Spain, since the
seventeenth century the Spanish Viceroy became not only the right place for artists and their
meetings but also a production and supply center of the works.
These were destined to the wealthy commission, local clerics, aristocrats and in addiction to
foreign costumers. In that age the huge interest shown by people for the art and its different
products, consecrated those apparently more artisanal and minor aspects of the activity of the
workshops, giving the polychrome statuary a privileged position. This condition furthermore
made a plenty favored to the progress of the specialist in the sector, close to the stylistic
orientations of the marble slaves and painters but somewhat involved in the cultural climate of
the century.
