Per una fisiologia letteraria della malattia d’amore fra Boccaccio e Verga

Abstract

Il presente contributo intende approfondire la polemica sociale che Boccaccio pone al centro di tutta la sua narrativa amorosa, denunciando il rischio di degenerazione isterica e melanconica a cui vanno incontro le nobildonne, convenzionalmente costrette a restare a casa e trattenere a lungo le emozioni negative. Da una prospettiva meramente «transtestuale e trans-soggettiva» (Pageaux) si tenterà, poi, una riflessione sull’affinità di intenti fra l’operazione messa in atto dal certaldese e quella proposta da Verga nella variegata trattazione erotica che lo preparava alla stagione verista.

This contribution intends to deepen the social controversy that Boccaccio places at the center of all his love narrative, denouncing the risk of hysterical and melancholic degeneration that noblewomen, conventionally forced to stay at home and hold back negative emotions, face. From a merely "transtextual and trans-subjective" perspective (Pageaux), a reflection will then be attempted on the affinity of intent between the operation implemented by the Certaldese and the one proposed by Verga in the variegated erotic treatment that prepared him for the realist season.
