I Sei personaggi di Pirandello. Dialogo critico

Abstract

La sera del 9 maggio 1921 aveva luogo la prima rappresentazione dei Sei personaggi al Teatro Valle di Roma, che, nella realizzazione di Parigi del 1923, ad opera del regista Pitoëff, raggiunge la duratura fama planetaria. Ma l’immagine del “personaggio” che cerca e, quasi, sceglie l’autore è ben presente per tutto il corso dell’attività poietica di Luigi Pirandello. Oggi è da evidenziare, ormai, soprattutto l’aspetto cognitivo, per così dire, dell’immagine che fa da sfondo e supporto alla dinamica del personaggio in cerca d’autore e, cioè, l’atto di “balzar vivi su la scena” come dichiara l’ancor giovanissimo Pirandello, già consapevole del rapporto problematico tra Testo e messinscena reale, tra rappresentazione autoriale della e nella mente e l’“ufficio” pratico del Teatro.

On the evening of 9 May 1921, the first performance of the Six Characters took place at the Teatro Valle in Rome, which, in the 1923 Paris production by director Pitoëff, achieved lasting worldwide fame. But the image of the “character” who seeks out and, almost, chooses the author is very present throughout Luigi Pirandello’s poietic activity. Today, it is above all the cognitive aspect, so to speak, of the image that serves as background and support for the dynamic of the “character in search of an author’”, that is, the act of “leaping alive onto the stage” as the still very young Pirandello declares, already aware of the problematic relationship between text and real staging, between authorial representation of and in the mind and the practical “office” of the theatre.
