Calceglia, Ivana
The essay analyzes the functions of the “brotherhood” in the formation of family dynamics in Fiesta al Noroeste, a novel by Ana María Matute published in 1953. The study aims to show how the horizontal relationships within the fraternal subsystem are capable of influencing and determining the internaldynamics of the family system, re-modulating the concept of family itself described by the author and relating to Spain during the first Francoism. The critical analysis is based, particularly, on the main studies related to the concept of “brotherhood”, like those carried out by René Kaës and Luis Kancyper on the “fraternal complex”.

The essay proposes the analysis of Guida allo studio di Dante, published in 1844 by Leonardo Antonio Forleo, an Apulian scholar whose crit-ics have recognized the merit of having contrib-uted to the cult and reading of Dante in Salento.Through precise and constant references to the text, the intention of the author is highlighted to detect the poetic, scientific and ethical beau-ties of Dante's Comedy, but also its allegorical contents, in order to instruct the 'valiant Italian youth' to which, motivated with a solid classi-cistic background, Forleo recommends reading and studving the poem as a source of good stud-ies and as the mother of poetry and of the Ital-ian language.

Papadia, Giulio
The paper returns to Gioventù cannibale 25 years after his release. After discussing about his adherence to pulp paradigms, it looks to characterizing aspects of the “cannibale” writ-ing: assimilation of media suggestions, deformation of language induced by spoken and ad-vertising, demolition of borders between high-brow and lowbrow. In the end, the article tries to reach an overall balance on the anthology, framing it in a general perspective about contemporary fiction.
