dc.description.abstractThis research article’s purpose through a quantitative methodology to examinate Pedro Francisco Bonó´s questioning about salvific progress conception, which characterized the sociopolitical and intellectual ambient of Dominican society on the second half of XIX century. As a social historical referent his critical speech about the progressive ideal, the social thinker approach the irruption of the European monopolistic capital on a country that recently emancipate itself from Spain and insist vainly in setting institutions related to the Nation State. Among the noted obstacles are illiteracy and ignorance, colonial mentality, political corruption and neocolonial practices. However, the intellectual critic warns that another of the serious issues is the theory of progress, feverishly raised by liberals and positivists. The result of the present work the arguments are explained in this regard, while analyzing the various stages of Bonó´s conceptualization.it_IT
