Persuasion et purification: la traduction intersémiotique dans l’affaire d’Outreau
Abstract
This paper aims to give importance to the inter-semiotic translation of the autobiographical book by
Alain Marécaux, Chronique de mon erreur judiciaire (2005). This book was adapted into film language
only a few years ago. The source text is the raw testimony of what transpired during the famous judicial
fiasco called the affaire d’Outreau that shocked France at the beginning of the Third Millennium.
The film Présumé coupable by Vincent Garenq (2010) has served as a form of “social repair” for this
issue. It was an important contribution because it provided a genuine Aristotelian catharsis. Through
the analysis of the translation from text to film, the article highlights the most effective target text,
according to the principle of added value that the film gives the text.
