«Génova, vista de longe de muito longe parece Luanda»: l Italia come esilio nella poesia di Costa Andrade
Abstract
The article reflects on the experience of exile and analyzes the poetry book Tempo angolano em Itália
(1963). The verses of the Angolan poet Costa Andrade show the progressive affirmation of «fragile»
nationalism, which allows Costa Andrade to recognize himself in the torn apart body of a people who,
like his own, fought fascist oppression. The myth of the Resistenza – which, not surprisingly, appears also
in a poem written in Italy by Agostinho Neto – thus becomes the political and poetic key to also propose
in Angola a patriotism of other countries.
