This research article deals with a qualitative methodology the reasons for the Russian support to Maduro’s government. The theory of the paper is that the growing Russian presence in Venezuela is coherent with the recent changes in the foreign policy of the Kremlin. Indeed, by the time of the worsening of the relationship between the United States and the European partners, Moscow considered an increasing activism in the Latin American continent as the opportunity to find new allies and to defend its claim to be recognised as a global power.it_IT
