Abstract: This research article describes the Colombian history from the Bogotazo to the beginning of the Frente Nacional looked through the perspective of the Italian diplomacy. The study, of qualitative type and based on records of the Historical Diplomatic Office at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlights the vision given by representatives of Rome about a crucial decade for the Latin American Republic and its connections with the regional and international situation. The evaluation of the Italian mission is presented as a sign of the attention given by the European diplomacy has given to Colombian processes and events. Therefore, they can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of Colombia’s history by offering a different reading from the viewpoint of an outside observer.
