Purpose of this article is to provide a new interpretation of the figure of Tennessee Williams in the light of his debt to Chekhov. After a brief introduction on the consonances between the two playwrights, we focus on the analysis of The Notebook of Trigorin – free adaptation of The Seagull – proposing a first translation of the text, still unpublished in Italy.
