Abstract: The article takes into consideration an equivalence that Cesare Pavese noted in his journal. This equivalence correlates the concept of God and the notion of the unconscious. The purposeof this note is interesting to investigate, especially because it has repercussions on the author’s poetics. It emerges, in fact, between the writing of essaysabout myth and poetry (Feria d’agosto) and the preparation of mythological dialogues (Dialoghi con Leucò).
