Il progetto romanzo nell’Italia fascista: un confronto con architettura e cinema

Abstract

Il fascismo ha avuto sempre un vivo interesse nello sviluppo di una stagione artistica che potesse essere espressione del nuovo corso politico italiano. I discorsi su «un’arte di Stato» partono già dai primi anni successivi alla Marcia su Roma, per poi proseguire negli anni Trenta. L’«arte fascista» vuole essere un’arte profondamente realista, vicina al racconto fedele del popolo, della sua quotidianità e dei nuovi modelli di vita. In campo letterario si sviluppò un forte dibattito teorico sulle forme del romanzo fascista, un romanzo che doveva essere anch’esso realista e vicino agli spazi quotidiani degli uomini. A differenza del progetto architettonico, però, il progetto romanzo – proprio come quello cinematografico – non trovò una piena realizzazione pratica.

In the literary field there was a strong theoretical debate about the forms of fascist novel, a novel that had to be realistic and close to daily spaces of men. Unlike the architectural project, howeever, the novel project – just like the cinematographic project – did not find a full protical realization.
