Abstract: The essay proposes some considerations on the value of detail in literature, taking into consideration the positions of great writers, from Leopardi to Chekhov to Nabokov. On the basis of exposedreflections, the novel The Lost Girl by Salvatore Mannuzzu is then analyzed.
