Abstract

The book by Luigi Capogrossi Colognesi emphasizes the complex and difficult work of the roman magistrates and the jurists directed to building a legal system adaptable to the changing times. In fact they will be credited with having developed a new law that was supposed to respond to the changed social needs leading up to up to a radical change im the structure of roman society, starting from the family unit and even reaching the autonomy of the people. The supporting structures of the roman legal system, already defined in the republican era, will make up the important and indispensable legacy on which the modern continental systems are implanted.
