Abstract

The fifth century A.D. turns out to be the crossroad between ancient and modern: a short century differently marked by a cultural acceleration. The primary and nodal aspect of the phenomenon is the Theodosius II coding. Elio Dovere with “The short Theodosianus century” brings together eight essays through which he retraces with wise scientific capacity a historical period that has not adequately been considered by the historical-legal research: the century of the Theodosian code.
