Abstract: | Museum professionals have increasingly introduced technology intohistorical spaces, and history into technological spaces, to augment or transformthe preservation of knowledge and artifacts; the sharing and creation of knowledge;and the visitor experience. This chapter reviews museum initiatives using technologyand principles of digital public history to engage collections and audiences. It focuseson three aspects of museum work in digital public history: community building, col-lections enhancement, and experiential engagement. Considering the international, multifaceted, and multimodal work being done by the museum community, broadlyconceived, the values of digital public history present themselves in the past andpresent of museum work. |
