«Salverei decisamente quel capolavoro di creazione traduttiva»: sui Macbeth di Quasimodo e Sanguineti

Abstract

Il presente intervento vuole proporre un confronto fra la traduzione della tragedia Macbeth di William Shakespeare del poeta Salvatore Quasimodo (1952) e quella del poliedrico Edoardo Sanguineti (Macbeth Remix, 1998). Entrambi poeti, traduttori da autori antichi e moderni e recensori teatrali, Quasimodo e Sanguineti muovono le loro traduzioni da una sensibilità tutta teatrale. Il confronto fra gli esiti macbethiani abbraccerà anche la più ampia riflessione e postura dei due poeti nei confronti della traduzione, che appare più vicina rispetto ai loro esiti traduttivi.

This essay proposes a comparison between two translations of the tragedy Macbeth by William Shakespeare: the first one by Salvatore Quasimodo (1952) and the second by Edoardo Sanguineti (Macbeth Remix, 1998). Both poets and translators from ancient and modern authors as well as theatre reviewers, Quasimodo and Sanguineti move their translations from an entirely theatrical sensibility. The comparison between these Macbeth’s results will also embrace the broader reflection and stance of the two poets towards the act of translating which appears to be closer than their translation results.
