Sei personaggi, tre congetture e un azzardo

Abstract

Con questo breve studio si è voluto indicare nello spazio nudo, prefigurato da Luigi Pirandello per i suoi Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore, una vera e propria svolta per il teatro italiano, attardato ancora su vecchi schemi ottocenteschi. Un’innovazione dal sapore antico che pur rifacendosi alle più gloriose tradizioni teatrali riuscirà a proiettare Pirandello tra i maggiori protagonisti della nuova scena novecentesca mondiale.

This brief study/research seeks to present Pirandello’s bareness of space as he envisioned it for his Sei personaggi in cerca d’autore, and to propose that this is a truly innovative step for Italian Theatre, then still bound to 19th century modalities. Pirandello’s breakthrough has an ancient scent to it, harking back to some of the most acclaimed theatrical traditions of the past. And yet Pirandello manages to project himself onto the 20th century theatrical global arena as one of its foremost representatives.
