'La scena di strada' e 'La madre' di Bertolt Brecht. Teoria e pratica a confronto

Abstract

La scena di strada (1938) è un testo cardine della produzione teorica di Brecht sul teatro. Nel saggio il drammaturgo delinea un modello archetipico per il teatro epico: il racconto di un incidente stradale da parte di un testimone oculare a degli astanti. La quinta scena del dramma La madre (1931) mostra una corrispondenza quasi letterale con questo modello esemplare. Oggetto del contributo è indagare in che modo gli elementi epici sperimentati nel testo drammatico e nel suo allestimento scenico siano confluiti, qualche anno dopo, nella definizione del modello teorico presentato nel saggio.

The Street Scene (1938) is a pivotal text in Brecht's theoretical production on theatre. In the essay, the playwright develops an archetypal model for epic theatre: the report of a traffic accident by an eyewitness to bystanders. The fifth scene of the play The Mother (1931) shows an almost literal conformity to this exemplary model. The aim of this contribution is to investigate how the epic elements tested both in the play and in its staging came together, a few years later, to define the theoretical model displayed in the essay.
