Tramandare il divismo: le biografie di Sarah Bernhardt

Abstract

In questo articolo vengono presentate le biografie di Sarah Bernhardt, ponendo l’attenzione, in particolare, alla cronologia e ai diversi tipi di biografie in lingua francese e inglese consacrate all’attrice per oltre cento anni. Nello specifico, è stato analizzato un campione selezionato di dieci biografie che consente di valutare anche le ragioni soggiacenti alla curiosità sempreverde che i diversi biografi hanno nutrito finora nei confronti della vita della celebre attrice.

In this article, the biographies of Sarah Bernhardt are presented, with a particular focus on the chronology and on the different types of biographies in both French and English which have been dedicated to this actress for over one hundred years. In particular, a selection of ten biographies was analysed. It allows us to reflect on the reasons of the evergreen interest that the biographers have had so far in the life of this famous actress.
