Abrazar a los ausentes

Abstract

¿Cómo hablamos hoy del horror? Esta es la pregunta que recorre “Abrazar a los ausen tes”, y que tiene que ver con los caminos en que la literatura en particular y la cultura en general responden a las múltiples violencias del mundo contemporáneo. De qué manera permiten reparar la herida de la que habla Alejandra Pizarnik: una herida que es a la vez individual y social, íntima y colectiva. De esta herida fundamental, de esta desgarradura, surge la poesía, tal vez por ello sea el tema central de mi libro Herida fecunda (Premio Málaga de Ensayo, 2024); una re flexión sobre exilios, sobre memoria, sobre duelos y escritura que está en la base de estas páginas. De Paul Celan a María Zambrano, del nuevo cine mexicano a las obras de Anselm Kiefer, de Raúl Zurita al filósofo Byung Chul Han, de Walter Benjamin a las Madres y Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, las líneas siguientes dialogan con el dolor, pero también con la esperanza, como posibilidad que surge de las tinieblas. Quizás solo escribimos para mantener una humilde esperanza: quebrada, fracturada, zurcida, pero firme, y lograr así abrazar a nuestros muertos.

How do we speak about horror today? This is the question that runs through Abrazar a los ausentes (Embracing the Absent Ones), and it concerns the ways in which lite rature in particular, and culture in general, respond to the multiple forms of violence in the contemporary world. How do they make it possible to heal the wound descri bed by Alejandra Pizarnik: a wound that is at once individual and social, intimate and collective? From this fundamental wound, from this rupture, poetry emerges; perhaps that is why it is the central theme of my book Herida fecunda (Fecund wound, Malaga Essay Prize, 2024), a reflection on exile, memory, mourning, and writing that underlies these pages. From Paul Celan to María Zambrano, from new Mexican cinema to the works of Anselm Kiefer, from Raúl Zurita to the philosopher Byung Chul Han, from Walter Benjamin to the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, the following lines engage in dialogue with pain, but also with hope, as a possibility that arises from darkness. Perhaps we write only to preserve a humble hope: broken, fractured, mended, yet steadfast, and thus to be able to embrace our dead.
