Abstract: The publication in 1648 of the Novelas amorosas de los mejores ingenios de España represented a milestone in the Spanish publishing scene of the time, both in terms of commercial impact, and also in terms of socio-cultural reception. The sylloge, in fact, brought together for the first time in a single volume the short stories that Lope de Vega had dedicated to Marcia Leonarda, one of the poetic masks of his beloved Marta de Nevares, together with four short stories by Alonso de Castillo Solórzano. The publication and circulation of this anthology by different authors consolidated, in the field of short fiction, a publishing model that had already been initiated in the 1730s in some collections of plays by diferentes autores. The preparation of the critical edition of this sylloge has made it possible to identify new data on the transmission and filiation among the printed witnesses transmitting the Novelas amorosas. The examination of these new elements is accompanied in the appendix by a critical apparatus for a further in-depth analysis of the matter.
