Intorno al San Francesco di Dante

Abstract

Il canto di san Francesco viene esposto nell’ambito della dispositio dei due famosi canti del cielo del sole, che celebrano le due guide inviate da Dio in soccorso della Chiesa, per dimostrarne la parità, ma in effetti per mettere in rilievo l’ordine francescano privilegiato da Dante, sia facendo in modo che la sequenza cominci e termini con il riferimento al santo di Assisi, sia esaltando Gioacchino da Fiore ispiratore e maestro dell’ordine francescano. La struttura si arricchisce di paradossi e antitesi inerenti alla rivoluzione operata dal santo, ed è evocata la sua poesia.

The Canto of Saint Francis is presented within the context of the dispositio of the two famous cantos of the heaven of the sun, which celebrate the two guides sent by God to rescue the Church in order to celebrate their equality, but indeed to highlight the Franciscan order favoured by Dante, both by ensuring that the sequence begins and ends with reference to the saint of Assisi and by exalting Joachim of Fiore, inspirer and master of the Franciscan order. The structure is enriched with paradoxes and antitheses inherent in the revolution brought by the saint, and his poetry is evoked.
