La liberté de l'abîme : la subjectivité rebelle de Marceline Desbordes-Valmore

Abstract

Questo articolo analizza la figura di Marceline Desbordes-Valmore come precorritrice di una forma moderna, complessa e singolare di soggettività femminile. Attraverso l’analisi di alcuni passi selezionati delle sue opere, insieme alle valutazioni critiche formulate da grandi figure della storia letteraria, lo studio mette in luce il profondo rapporto tra la sofferenza amorosa e la libertà personale. La poetessa entra in conflitto con la società del suo tempo proprio attraverso la libertà con cui ama e soffre; è precisamente in questa libertà che risiede la sua «maledizione».

This article examines the figure of Marceline Desbordes-Valmore as a precursor of a modern, complex, and distinctive form of female subjectivity. Through an analysis of selected passages from her works, together with the critical assessments advanced by major figures in literary history, the study brings to light the profound relationship between suffering in love and personal freedom. The poet comes into conflict with the society of her time through the very freedom with which she loves and suffers; it is precisely within this freedom that her ‘’curse’’ resides.
