This short contribution is dedicated to the reprise, within the Sogno d’un mattino di primavera, of Dante’s ‘ballata’ Per una ghirlandetta. The source verses are profoundly reworked, but keeping the reprise, certain constructs, syntagmas and key words unchanged. If D’Annunzio’s text is “reduced” to a series of only septenaries, the modules and forms of traditional versification recur, in the form of reminiscence, also in the “musical proceeding” of the prosyastic parts that alternate with Panfilo’s song. |
