Il teatro di festa. Progettualità e messinscena nella drammaturgia dannunziana

Abstract

Il saggio punta a meglio definire il concetto di “teatro di festa” come contraltare al teatro borghese post-unitario. Il rinnovamento avrebbe dovuto coinvolgere tutti gli elementi portanti della messinscena (scenografia, recitazione, costumi, danza, musica, registica). Il disegno del teatro di Albano però fallì miseramente a causa della mancata corrispondenza tra la forza delle idee innovative e la debolezza di una loro concreta attuazione: i costi eccessivi e il venir meno dei fondi promessi, la burocrazia, le difficoltà relative al reperimento del luogo ove far sorgere l’edificio, i mezzi di trasporto per gli spettatori.

The essay aims to pinpoint the concept of “teatro di festa” as a counterpart to the post-unification Bourgeois Theater. The rejuvenation should have included all main aspects of staging (scenography, acting, costumes, dance, music, direction). Yet, Albano’s project miserably failed due to the mismatch between powerful innovative ideas and weak attempts to realize them, because of excessive costs, failing of the promised funds, bureaucracy, difficulties in finding means of transport for the audience as well as a site on which to erect the building.
