It is analyzed the relationship between the ways of “making poetry” and the thought which dominates much of the Seventeenth Century. The slow decline of the parameters set by Bembo is documented by taking in consideration the innovative crossings of the Sixteenth Century opera, bringing in close contact the formal structures with the new exegetic instances and the changed cognitive order. Facing the composite universe of the baroque poetry, De Sanctis remains hesitant, being himself strictly attached to the criteria of his romantic spirit which directed him towards a pure realism, far from any speculative aspect. Finally, the two universes interact in the light of a complex and different vision of modernity.
