The Mediterranean is by definition a place of relations, where many and varied forms of thought,

furrowed by paths and characterized by a dense network of cultural, artistic, political and religious exchange
opportunities. This area offers, therefore, a vast repertoire of cases to experiment and refine methods of investigation,
theories and exemplary practices to understand and recover urban fabrics, agglomerations and architectural
individualities. These territories are characterized by a strong relationship between traditional ways of living
and the territory, implicit vocations and aims of transformation. This research intends to build a project based
on the knowledge and enhancement of the Mediterranean architecture and built landscapes, by choosing as a
reference area the UNESCO site of the Amalfi Coast, in order to highlight the ordering elements of architecture,
landscape and places and, at the same time, identify the threats of the new global. After a careful analysis of
transformations, alterations and tampering of traditional architecture, the research intends to develop guidelines
for the recovery and sustainable conservation of these unique and unrepeatable traditional agglomerations, in
