This article focuses on narrativity as an access key to the symbolic-cultural universe in which the human being is immersed. Narrativity has to be intended as a pre-theoretical term, to designate the basic structure of knowledge, i.e. the natural tendency of human beings (in the construction and interpretation of reality) to think in terms of stories. Starting from their perceptual and motor skills, children build their basic semantic concepts within narrative sequences. This article deals mainly with mother tongue acquisition, although many of the processes described may also be referred to second language acquisition.en_US
