«La città morta» nel teatro all’aperto del Castello Regina Cornaro di Asolo (1935)

Abstract

Questo contributo considera l’allestimento della tragedia dannunziana “La città morta” nel teatro all’aperto del Castello di Asolo tenutosi il 24 agosto 1935, con replica il 31 agosto. Dedicato alla memoria di Eleonora Duse, ebbe la regia di Guido Salvini che elaborò accorti espedienti scenici per ricreare l’Argolide nel panorama del Grappa. Il successo riportato da Emma Gramatica, Memo Benassi e Giulio Stival rese questa rappresentazione davvero memorabile, nella storia del teatro en plein air negli Anni Trenta.

This paper analyzes the staging of the tragedy ‘The Dead City’ by Gabriele d’Annunzio in the open air theatre of the Castle in Asolo, held on 24 August 1935 (with a repeat performance on 31 August). Dedicated to the memory of Eleonora Duse, it was directed by Giulio Salvini, who invented clever scenic effects in order to recreate the Argolis in the panorama of Grappa. The success of the actors Emma Gramatica, Memo Benassi and Giulio Stival made this staging truly memorable, in the history of the ‘en plein air’ theatre in the 1930s.
