El faraute de Hernán Cortés. Un Go-between en la conquista de México.
Abstract
In this research article study is analyzed, with a qualitative methodology, a key concept for the understanding of the conquest of Mexico, the «Go-Between». It is a perspective to the role Marina, la Malinche, played as «faraute» of Hernán Cortés. Moreover, it also provides a fruitful starting point to distinguish the Cortesian «faraute» from the Renaissance translator, the messenger, the ambassador, the spy, and even from the Simmelian typology of intermediary. All of them are different from the «faraute» and, in the case of Marina, her role between the Middle Ages and the first modernity is paradigmatic.
