As mulheres nos prontuários do sanatório pinel de pirituba
Abstract
The hospitalization of patients to the ‘Sanatório Pinel’ was followed by exams, in addition to a questionnaire answered by a family member. By reading the medical records, we noticed that the answers obtained through the questionnaire filled out by the family member responsible for the hospitalization were often used and reinforced in the description of the psychic examination, which suggests a strong bond between family and doctors, and, consequently, the dissemination of eugenic discourse in Brazilian society in the 30s and 40s. In this article, we intend to expose the Brazilian context of the 1930-1940s, and some aspects of the medi-cal records of women hospitalized in the ‘Sanatório Pinel de Pirituba’ in those decades.
