dc.description.abstract | The national and international expositions used to host materials related
to the school system, which included selections of the country’s best educational practices,
exhibitions on innovations in education, teaching materials, school buildings and furnishings, curriculum, as well as the best student products. The essay analyzes the cases of the
universal exhibitions of Milan 1906 and Turin 1911, focusing on the pavilions of Italians abroad, where also schools and welfare institutions contributed to the representation
and self-representation of national glory. The main sources are two colonial monographs
relating to the Italian presence in Istanbul and Barcelona, prepared and presented at the
universal exhibitions held in Italy at the beginning of the twentieth century. | it_IT |
