Duello a mezzogiorno: sul riutilizzo e il ribaltamento dei tópoi del western nel ciclo di Pantera di Valerio Evangelisti

Abstract

L’articolo è dedicato all’analisi del ciclo di Pantera (o del Metallo) di Valerio Evangelisti, un pastiche letterario che può essere fatto rientrare nel genere del weird western. Composto da un racconto e da due romanzi, il ciclo viene proposto come una narrazione che sviluppa coerentemente il tema della presa di coscienza politica da parte del protagonista. La vicenda è costellata di riferimenti ai luoghi comuni del genere western, tra cui il duello finale: la seconda parte dell’articolo è dedicata infatti all’analisi dei tre duelli descritti nel corso della saga.

This paper focuses on the analysis of Valerio Evangelisti’s Pantera (or Metal) series, a literary pastiche that can be placed in the weird western genre. Consisting of a short story and two novels, the series is proposed as a narrative that consistently develops the theme of the protagonist’s political awareness. The story is studded with references to the commonplaces of the western genre, including the final duel: the second part of the article is in fact dedicated to the analysis of the three duels described in the course of the saga.
