Abstract: The present research article analyzes by means of a qualitative methodology the serious economic crisis, to speculate to the Spanish one, that was evident during the reign of Felipe III in the Neapolitan viceroyalty. The conclusions, aimed at deciphering the viceroyalty events-axis of Spanish imperial policy as the first financier of the wars of that time, are based on the analysis of basilar documents such as the Instrucciones that the sovereign gave to the viceroys, the Viceregal Informes, and some presuppositions that, through the economic policy of the Spanish monarchy, highlight the economic-financial situation of the viceroyalty.
