The paper presents a lexical survey for students of Italian in German Universities: these students were asked to indicate ten Italian words spontaneously associated to Italy and their favorite word. The results (to be used for the update of manuals on the Italian language in German-speaking countries) confirm that stereotypes associated to Italy remain and, although they are most of the times positive, they do not reflect the real situation of the country and the cultural changes of the last twenty years.it_IT
