Abstract: Caio Trebazio Testa was a jurist jurisperitus and a prestigious representative of the jurisprudence in force between Roman Republic and the Reign of Octavian. The essay describes his interpretatio, his philosophical inclinations, his cultural interests during the period of the involution of the republic and the breach of constitutional legality. He was one of the earliest jurists and was invested as ius publice respondendi. Thanks to innovative solutions –for example, he created the institution of codicilli- he contributed to the enlargement of the ius civile.
