Abstract: In questo studio, si mettono in evidenza i caratteri di portata universale che consentono al film di ottenere il consenso del pubblico occidentale. La rappresentazione dell’amore come un sentimento mai vissuto sollecita ad accostare l’opera alle concezioni romantiche. Sul piano tecnico, l’allineamento alla cultura occidentale si esplicita nella riproposizione di alcuni degli autori cinematografici più importanti della tradizione europea.
In this essay, we analyse the universal themes and features which enable the film to successfully reach western audiences. The pursuit of love without fulfilment is one of the key issues in romantic literature and here it is addressed in a similar fashion. In addition, the technical devices used to please a western public are taken from the traditional visual rhetoric of some of the most prominent European filmmakers.
