Abstract: The essay reconstructs the history of the film script that the writer Ennio Flaiano Drew from his novel Tempo di uccidere (The Short Cut), winner of the Strega award in 1947, for the American director Jules Dassin, in the early 1950s. It sometimes happens in the world of cinema, the film was not made and only many years later, in 1989, Giuliano Montaldo made a film from the novel by Flaiano, ignoring the first script.
