Abstract: The paper deals with the regional and local experience of the principle of collaboration between State and Church in relation to the historical and artistic heritage of the Nation, even when it has a religious relevance. In particular, the Author firstly recalls the essential regulatory co-ordinates, secondly proposes an analysis of the evolution which has led regions and local authorities to develop models of cooperation that are wider and more incisive than those initially envisaged by legislator and finally highlights the contradictions and the difficulties which are connected to this evolution.
