Violenza contro le donne. Il ruolo del giornalismo

Abstract

This work aims to analyse what is and what has been the role of journalism in the tragic phenomenon of violence against women, more generally of gender inequality, and what changes have taken place in Italian society over the last fifty years. As a kind of introduction, the origins of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will be recalled and the fundamental principles on the subject indicated by international organisations and the important laws enacted in Italy that have – slowly but inexorably and almost imperceptibly - changed the power relations between the genders and their roles in every sector of our daily life will be pointed out. Various news cases from recent years will be examined.
