El tanteo de la escritura y su marca textual: coordenadas sobre la guerra y la migración en lenta biografía (1990), de Sergio Chejfec

Abstract

La migración y la guerra son temas centrales en Lenta biografía, la primera novela del escritor argentino Sergio Chejfec, a pesar de resultar siempre desplazados por devaneos en torno a los modos en que se puede narrar una historia. La migración se traslada, en el proyecto estético de Chejfec, a la escritura, que pierde su poder asertivo y funciona mediante procesos de acercamiento y de alejamiento, mediante dudas, correcciones y especulaciones. El texto registra esas huellas del tanteo, porque para Chejfec cualquier forma posible de lo real se construye en una simultaneidad absoluta con la propia es critura. En este trabajo interesa mostrar, entonces, cómo los fenómenos migratorios y bélicos se convierten en problemas inherentes a lo literario con el fin de articular un texto que no puede perder nunca su carácter de borrador, y cuya lentitud echa por tierra cualquier empresa narrativa totalizante.

Migration and war are central themes in Lenta biografía, the first novel by Argentine writer Sergio Chejfec, although they are consistently displaced by musings on the ways in which a story can be told. In Chejfec's aesthetic project, migration is transposed into writing, which loses its assertive power and operates through exploratory processes of approach and withdrawal, of doubts, corrections, and speculations. The text records these traces of exploration, since for Chejfec any possible form of reality is constructed in absolute simultaneity with the writing. This paper seeks to show, therefore, how mi gration and war-related phenomena become problems inherent to the literary, shaping a text that can never shed its draft-like quality, and whose slowness undermines any totalizing narrative enterprise.
