Luciano Bianciardi. La vita agra del traduttore
Abstract
The novel La vita agra by Luciano Bianciardi was published, for the first time, in 1962. It is the last volume ideally placed as a seal of the novel trilogy – also known as the “trilogy of anger” – begun in 1954 by Il lavoro culturale followed by L’integrazione, in 1960. According to Paolo Corrias La vita agra – unanimously considered by critics to be Bianciardi’s most successful narrative work – offers the successful representation of «an unforgettable story in which [Bianciardi] translated what was in his heart is accomplished». But above all in this novel Simone Giusti has identified the synthesis between the story of the “job” of translator – a dominant theme in the narrative of an author «so radically autobiographical, essayist of himself, a writer “provoked” by reality and therefore satirical rather than narrator of stories» – and the treatment of translation, tout court, which reveals itself as an «integral part» of Bianciardi’s «narrative technique».
