«Forse la realtà è fantastica di per sé» Scrittura e finzione nell’opera narrativa di Tabucchi: (“Donna di Porto Pim” e “Notturno indiano”)

Abstract

L’opera narrativa di Antonio Tabucchi, in un’epoca in cui il mondo appare sempre più complesso e sfaccettato, si interroga sulla scrittura e sul suo rapporto ambiguo con la realtà. In essa l’autore, attraverso svariati riferimenti alla pratica letteraria – personaggi-scrittori, strutture metanarrative, commenti sulla scrittura e in genere accorgimenti metafinzionali –, riflette sulle effettive capacità della letteratura di arrivare a comprendere e raffigurare il reale, così come più in generale sui limiti e le possibilità della scrittura in epoca postmoderna. In questo contributo, al fine di mettere in luce le varie direzioni assunte da tale riflessione, i diversi riferimenti menzionati sono stati suddivisi in quattro categorie, tutte rientranti nel panorama della metafinzione postmoderna. Prendendo in considerazione due opere degli anni ’80 – “Donna di Porto Pim” e “Notturno indiano” –, questo saggio vuole mostrare come i numerosi riferimenti alla pratica letteraria siano funzionali a esprimere un ragionamento esteso e articolato sulla scrittura, la quale deve trovare nuove possibilità narrative capaci di far fronte a una realtà equivoca e multiforme sempre meno afferrabile.

Antonio Tabucchi’s narrative work, at a time when the world is becoming more and more complex and multifaceted, wonders about writing and its ambiguous relationship with reality. Through several allusions to the literary practice – such as writers-figures, metanarratives structures, comments on writing, and in general metafictional expedients –the author investigates the actual abilities of literature to understand portray reality, as well as the limits and the possibilities of writing in the postmodern period. In the present study, to highlight the different directions of author’s investiogation, the various allusions have been grouped into four categories, all of within the panorama of postmodern metafiction. Taking into account twoworks from 80s – ‘Donna in Porto Pim and Indian Nocturne -, this article aims to show how the allusions to the literary practice can express a wide and complex reasoning on writing; a writing that needs to find new narrative possibilities, to be able to face an equivocal and multiform reality that is less and less comprehensible.
