Re-imaging an Inclusive People’s History

Abstract

Drawing on the meaning of memorialization with examples from South Africa, this article argues that given the racist history of the USA, the meanings and function of memorials to the past should be subverted to continue the dialogue about freedom, justice, and equality in the country.
