Annotazione e analisi sintattica del parlato afasico
Abstract
The present work consists of the analysis and syntactic annotation (parsing) of a corpus of spoken
Italian consisting of Cookie Theft Picture descriptions produced by three aphasic speakers and three
control subjects. The corpus consists of 610 words corresponding to 8 minutes and 55 seconds of
recorded speech, transcribed and manually annotated with ANANAS L2 (Annotazione Analisi Sintattica,
for learners of Italian as foreign language).
The annotation allowed to 1) compare the corpus with other data belonging to more than one lingui stic variety and produced by speakers with different communicative abilities (e.g. learners of Italian as
a foreign language); 2) to take into account phenomena of spoken without considering them as deviant
structures, 3) to annotate any impaired structures, 4) to indicate the syntactic constituent in which the
impaired structure is located.
Impaired structures were labeled on the basis of two dimensions: the type of impairment (omission,
substitution, extra element) and the syntactic constituent and grammatical category in which they recur.
The labeling of the corpus revealed that deviations pertain to different levels of syntactic construction
and that a deviation pertinent to one syntactic level is not an obstacle to the non-impaired construction
of the higher syntactic unit.
